Tapping – not to be confused with taping which is a method used to treat muscle pains, for example – is a wonderful technique anyone can use to alleviate pains and other symptoms, often even get rid of them completely, and this is one of the few simple things that I am using with good results on my legs, as well as for other issues.
What is tapping? It is a rather simple technique, a combination of ancient Asian methods that deal with the meridians of the body, and modern psychology.
It is done by applying gentle tapping with your fingers on certain acupressure points, in a certain sequence; either mechanically, without directly addressing an emotional or physical issue you are having, or by going deeper in locating and handling the root of a problem.
It could be also called as a therapy of energy psychology, and it has two main types:
A) The original tapping TFT, Thought Field Therapy, also called as Callahan method, founded by Dr. Roger Callahan, see more at the tft tapping website.
I started using a very basic tapping sequence of TFT in 2011, and already the first few applications made small wonders for me, in terms of reducing stress from the most various sources. It takes about 2 minutes, and I do it still today, whenever I feel irritated by something, exhausted and need a little extra boost, or have difficulties with falling asleep, for example.
This basic sequence that I am doing is a great help, but is far from being the ultimate solution for everything – if there is ever such a thing as The Ultimate Panacea. But this method is really simple, it takes maybe 3 minutes to do it, or not even that much. Sign up for my email list and receive the instructions
There are more advanced, complex versions, see more info again on the TFT website here
B) EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, developed by Gary Craig, based on TFT. More info on his website emofree.com
Today, there are many TFT and EFT counselors in the world, and materials available to watch, read and listen to. If you have never done tapping and don’t know what it is, the best would be to watch for example this short introductory video first:
And the following is a few-minute video by Brad Yates (he is one EFT practitioner that I love); this is what I tried to apply first to my legs with lymphedema (and as I had to diagnose myself a bit later, lipedema too), and my legs have improved since I am doing it:
This is not the only tapping that I do; for I believe that lymphedema (or any other disease) can be only successfully cured by a holistic approach, healing the person in whole, as a unite of body, mind and spirit.
Therefore I am taking up various subjects for tapping, mostly from Brad Yates at TapWithBrad.com, but Nick Ortner at TappingSolution.com is also a highly recognized expert in this area, with great knowledge.
The way tapping has helped me so far with my legs is to get me started and be more consequent in healthier options (although I can and should do still much better, with food, sleep and exercise, amongst others), and a way more positive outlook on my legs in general.
I can’t say that it was only the tapping that did it, but in the past half a year my feet don’t hurt any more, I can walk pain free, no hot or other nasty feeling on the skin of my legs, and now I need smaller compression stockings.
